Wine & Eggs is a fine foods and natural wine shop in Atwater Village designed by Adi Goodrich. Inspiration was culled by the oft-overlooked details of Parisian cafés, Italian tabacchis and Portuguese storefronts. Adi drew influence from Los Angeles’ quality of abundant sunlight, by creating a custom relief artwork that greets you upon entry and transforms throughout the day as shadows stretch and linger. Adi also designed the custom lighting in the store which, from below looks like an over-easy egg. Custom fixtures were built by Dusk with Adi’s design in a warm cherry wood that’s reminiscent of Charlotte Perriand’s patina’d birch stools. For the logo and graphic identity, Adi tapped illustrator Clay Hickson. Uncut blue and white 3”x6” tiles spell out Wine & Eggs on the facade, a gesture towards practicality in materiality over unnecessarily precious detailing. The facade is inspired by the tiled signage of Portuguese storefronts, inherently functional in its boldness.
